Upset, Anika grabs her bow and heads into the woods to hunt. But she’s off her game and doesn’t sense the imminent threat closing in on her until it’s far too late. A growl rises directly behind her as a feral wasteland dog pounces, tearing into her with ravenous ferocity. Hearing Anika’s cries, Nikko explodes into a full sprint and finds her being ravaged by the rabid canine. Attacking the beast, he wounds it and it scurries away. Nikko has to make a choice. Putting her life before his, he scoops her up and races to her tribe’s compound. Nikko’s immediately met by a hostile group of undesirables, convinced this is one of Levin’s traps. But their leader Stellan intervenes. Anika’s his daughter and he’s grateful that Nikko has brought her back to him. Wracked with guilt for not protecting his friend, Nikko watches as a Healer tries to save her. But the wounds are too severe. Nikko loses yet another person that he cared about and it weighs heavily on him. This doesn’t go unnoticed by Stellan who retrieves something from a locked chest and presents it to Nikko as a sign of respect – A katana sword.
